40. Man vs Machine Learning: Rank 1340 & a Bench Boost Fail

Gameweek 33 saw decent green arrows for both teams again with my team once again reaching a personal best rank. With four gameweeks to go, FPL has thrown the game into chaos with a Triple Gameweek for Man United and a bunch of other teams having Double Gameweeks. On top of this, GW 36 has blanks for some highly owned players' teams.

With the announcement coming just before the Triple Gameweek itself, there has not been much time to plan for it - especially for the Machine Learning team, which has struggled with the changing schedule  and doubles & blanks this season. This week was probably the biggest example of that - with the ML team having played the bench boost and having 4 players not playing due to the canceled game.

The Machine's Team

  • Gameweek 34
    • The bench boost was played and it turned out to be the worst time to play it. At least it's done with now.
    • Brighton double defence got a clean sheet - and Coufal also got 7 points with his assist
    • Iheanacho and Watkins got points as well to finish on 46 points
    • The Machine did get a solid green arrow to go from 634k to 596k
  • Gameweek 35
    • The suggested move is to bring Aina in for Saiss and keep him on the bench (2 free transfers available
    • Captain is Bruno, vice Captain Salah
    • Lingard is interestingly benched ahead of Veltman

Expected number of returns for GW 35-38 per position according to the Machine

My Team

  • Gameweek 34
    • The Liverpool-United game getting canceled was massive for the team with 5 players from that fixture
    • Coufal, Veltman, Mendy got returns in defence
    • Son and Iheanacho were the only ones to get attacking returns
    • A green arrow from 1586 to 1340

  • Gameweek 35
    • No changes have been made yet
    • The team looks alright for this week, with the main danger being the lack of Everton players and Greenwood
    • Another thing to keep in mind is that 5 of these players blank in GW 36
    • 2 Free Transfers are available though - so there is a chance to make significant changes
